It is necessary to have the Work Permit document for the employment process.

Foreign nationals can seek advice on applying for a Work Permit from the Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour, as there are laws and regulations governing foreign employment. Information can be checked on the website www.doe.go.th. It is advised to promptly apply for a Work Permit (Form BT.25) at the Department of Employment or the local employment office before starting work. Working without a Work Permit is illegal and will result in legal action.

In this case, the foreign national must be notified of termination within 15 days after the Work Permit expires. If the notification is delayed beyond 15 days, both the employer and the foreign national will face a fine. The Work Permit cannot be renewed without the original permit in all cases, except for cases of loss.

The duration of the work permit is determined based on the employment documents and may be issued for 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 1 year 3 months, 1 year 6 months, or a maximum of 2 years per application. The duration of the work permit may not align with the duration of the visa or the permission to stay in the Kingdom.

The foreign national or authorized representative must submit a request to extend their stay in Thailand (Non-B Visa) at the Immigration Office before the work permit expires. The request should be made using Form BT.25. If the work permit has expired or the request is submitted later than the deadline, the worak permit cannot be extended.
