Chulalongkorn University is responsible for the wellbeing of all staff to ensure that they are capable of working here happily. The university has clear measures for appeal and complaint procedures to help protect employees’ benefits and freedoms and to prevent any violations of their rights.
These measures will be applied whenever a case arises in which a staff member believes that he/she has not been treated properly or when any procedure has not been followed with transparency. Examples could include a performance appraisal not being evaluated with fairness; a contract not being extended or being cancelled; punishment or unfair treatment related to a specific issue due to an action or order by an immediate supervisor. In such cases, the staff member can file an appeal.
University staff have a right to appeal to the Appeal and Complaints Committee to help provide justice for them.
The guidelines are as follows:
In addition, the university supports staff members in the academic field by allowing appeals in relation to requests for a review of academic work submitted to support an application for a higher academic position. This is intended to support the professional growth of staff, and can also be applied in cases where a contract extension is being considered while academic work is in the process of being reviewed. The procedures for an appeal are set out in the chart below:
