Academic advancement

Career advancement of academic staff.

University academic staff can request the establishment of academic positions according to the academic position establishment consideration procedures of the Office of Academic Affairs, with operational procedures handled by the Human Resources Office. These can be categorized by the following positions: 

The positions include Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor (Senior Salary Scale), Senior Researcher, Expert Researcher, Distinguished Researcher, Senior Foreign Language Instructor, Expert Foreign Language Instructor, and Distinguished Foreign Language Instructor.

  1.  Once the Human Resource Management Office receives the official notification of the University Council’s approval for the academic position appointment.  
  2.  The responsible officer calculates the salary, position allowance, and records the data in the CU-HR system.  
  3.  The officer prepares the appointment order and updates the contract for the academic position, then forwards it to the appointee’s affiliated unit.  
  4.  The affiliated unit processes and submits the appointment order and prepares the work contract for the appointed academic staff. 

Professor Position

  1. When the Prime Minister’s Office announces the appointment of a professor in the Royal Gazette.  
  2. The responsible officer calculates the salary, position allowance, and records the data in the CU-HR system.  
  3. The officer prepares the contract amendment order for the academic position and forwards it to the appointee’s affiliated unit.  
  4.  The affiliated unit processes and submits the appointment order and prepares the work contract for the appointed academic staff.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The titles Assistant Professor or Associate Professor can only be used as a name prefix after the University Council has approved the academic position appointment. 
  • The title Professor can only be used as a name prefix after the Prime Minister’s Office announcement of the professorship appointment has been published in the Royal Gazette. 
  • In cases where the University Council resolution or the Prime Minister’s Office announcement of a professorship appointment is published in the Royal Gazette between October and July of each year, the Human Resource Management Office will issue the official order, calculate the salary and position allowance, and record the information in the CU-HR system within the following month after the University Council resolution or the publication of the Prime Minister’s Office announcement in the Royal Gazette. 
  • In cases where the University Council resolution or the Prime Minister’s Office announcement of a professorship appointment is published in the Royal Gazette between August and September, the Human Resource Management Office will issue the official order, calculate the salary and position allowance, and record the information in the CU-HR system within October of each year. 

Between October and July of each year, personnel will receive their salary and academic position allowance within the second month following the month in which the University Council resolution was made or the Prime Minister’s Office announcement of a professorship appointment was published in the Royal Gazette. 

However, if the University Council resolution or the Prime Minister’s Office announcement is published in the Royal Gazette between August and September, personnel will receive their salary and academic position allowance within November of that year.
