Provident fund

The Chulalongkorn University Provident Fund was established on October 1, 2006, to promote long-term savings and provide financial security for members upon retirement. The fund is intended for university employees of Chulalongkorn University. The University contributes additional matching funds to support and benefit all university employees who become members of the fund. At present, the Chulalongkorn University Provident Fund is managed and overseen by Krung Thai Asset Management Public Company Limited.

This website serves as an information hub for fund members, allowing them to search for and view various fund-related details, including fund performance, fund regulations, operational guidelines, and downloadable forms for conducting various transactions within the fund.

Investment Plans and Policies

Submitting a Request to Change Investment Policy

Members may request to change their investment policy up to 4 times per year (flexible option) through the following four channels:

  1. Via the website of Krung Thai Asset Management Public Company Limited under the Provident Fund section
  2. K-TAM Smart Trade application
  3. Through the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system at 02-686-6100
  4. By SMS from a mobile phone: type “PVD [space] user name [space] password” and send to 4694100

 

Annual Request to Change Provident Fund Contribution Rate
Members who wish to change their provident fund contribution rate may do so via the CUERP-Fiori automated personnel system at https://www.cuerpapp.chula.ac.th during the period 1 – 31 December each year.
Changes will take effect on 1 January of the following year.

Notification of Provident Fund Membership Termination

Membership Termination Due to Retirement

  • In the case that a member wishes to withdraw funds from the Provident Fund, please submit the following documents:
    • 1) A copy of the national ID card
    • 2) A copy of the first page of a savings bank account passbook clearly showing the bank name, branch, account number, and the member’s name as the sole account holder
  • In the case that a member wishes to retain the funds in the Provident Fund, please submit the following documents:
    • 1) A written request to retain funds in the Provident Fund
    • 2) A copy of the national ID card
    • 3) A copy of the first page of a savings bank account passbook clearly showing the bank name, branch, account number, and the member’s name as the sole account holder
    • 4) A copy of the deposit slip for the retention request processing fee

 

Membership Termination Due to Resignation

If a member resigns from employment and wishes to retain their membership by keeping the funds in the Provident Fund while waiting to transfer them to a new fund at another organization, please submit the required documents to the Division of Employee Wellness and Welfare, Office of Human Resources Management, Chamchuri 5 Building, 5th Floor.

 

Voluntary Withdrawal from the Provident Fund (Without Resigning from Employment)

Members who resign from the Provident Fund without resigning from employment may reapply for membership only once thereafter.
To resign, please submit a memorandum stating the intent to withdraw from the Provident Fund to the Office of Human Resources Management, along with: A copy of the national identification card, and a copy of the first page of a savings bank account passbook.

Frequently Asked Questions

    • Receive employer contributions, which are equivalent to an additional monthly salary (at a rate of 5% of salary for employees with less than 5 years of service, and 8% for those with 5 years or more).
    • Tax benefits: employee contributions deducted from salary are eligible for income tax deductions.
    • Investment returns such as interest and dividends are exempt from tax.
    • Encourage disciplined and regular savings, as contributions are automatically deducted from the salary each month.
    • In the event of resignation, disability, retirement, or death, members or their beneficiaries will receive accumulated contributions and investment returns. Employer contributions are paid according to the Provident Fund regulations, providing financial security for the member’s family. 

Length of Service: Less than 5 years: Employee Contribution: 3% – 15% of salary / Employer Matching Contribution: 5% of salary

Length of Service: 5 years or more: Employee Contribution: 5% – 15% of salary / Employer Matching Contribution: 8% of salary

Members can change their contribution rate independently through the Fiori system once per year.

The change period is open during December each year, with changes taking effect on January 1 of the following year.

Members can change their investment plan up to four times per year via the KTAM Mobile Application.

We recommend completing a risk assessment questionnaire to understand your risk tolerance. Based on the results, you can then select an appropriate investment plan through the KTAM Mobile Application.

If a member resigns from the Provident Fund without resigning from their job, they may reapply for membership one more time only.

Members who retire may submit the following documents to claim their Provident Fund benefits: A copy of their national ID card, and a copy of the first page of their bank account passbook

Documents can be submitted in person at the Office of Human Resources Management, Chamchuri 5 Building, 5th Floor,

or via email to surivassa.d@chula.ac.th by September 30.

Once all documents are complete, the Provident Fund payment will be transferred to the member’s bank account by the end of October.

 

**For members with over 5 years of membership, the Provident Fund payout (including accumulated contributions, employer matching contributions, and investment returns on matching contributions) is exempt from being counted as taxable income.

Retired members may choose to either retain their funds in the Provident Fund or receive the payout in installments by submitting the following documents: 1) Request form to retain funds in the Provident Fund, 2) A copy of the national identification card, 3) A copy of the first page of a savings bank account passbook, 4) A copy of the deposit slip for the 500 THB processing fee

 

**For members with less than 5 years of membership, or those who do not wish to withdraw their funds immediately, Krung Thai Asset Management (KTAM) will continue to manage the existing fund balance. No new contributions will be added, and the fund will be invested according to the member's selected investment plan.

Returns on the investment may increase or decrease depending on capital market conditions.
