Chula Student Internship

Criteria for the High-Potential Student Internship Project for Meaningful Contributions to Chulalongkorn University in Support of SDG Goal 8

Terms
  • Student means Chulalongkorn University students currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree program
  • Employer means a department under Chulalongkorn University that wishes to hire a student for the internship, except the Office of Property Management
  • Active Student Status Duration means the duration from when the student registered until the degree has been approved
  • Student hiring period means the working period appointed by the employer, stating the starting and ending dates of the internship

Students

  • Chulalongkorn University students who are currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree program. The student must hold an active student status on the date of joining the program.
  • During the internship period under the project, students must not participate in industrial internships, professional internships, training programs, fieldwork, take a leave of absence from their studies, or be suspended from their studies due to disciplinary violations.

Employer

  • A department under Chulalongkorn University that wishes to hire a student for the internship, except the Office of Property Management
  • Students participating in the project shall not be considered university employees. Therefore, the work performed under this project is not covered by labor laws.
  • The compensation for the internship program will be according to Chapter 5: Student-Related Expenses, Clause 27 of the Chulalongkorn University Announcement on the Criteria and Rates for Various Types of Payments, B.E. 2563 (2020), with disbursement rates as follows:
    • Undergraduate students: 100 Baht per hour per person
    • Graduate students: 150 Baht per hour per person

Note: Fractions of an hour shall not be included in the compensation calculation.

  • Students participating in the project should be aware that their work obligations will not be considered a valid excuse for class absences, incomplete assignments, late submissions, or poor academic performance during their registered study period.
  • For the summary of workdays and hours, please refer to the “Work Time and Compensation Record Form” attached to the supporting documents.
  • Students involved in the project who are assigned tasks that include personal data or confidential university information must handle such information with care and must not disclose it to individuals not involved in the project.
  • Departments must provide details regarding their request to participate in the project for hiring high-potential students to support staffing needs and contribute meaningful work to Chulalongkorn University, in support of SDG Goal 8, to the Office of Human Resources Management before the commencement of the student employment under the project.
  • Upon completion of the internship period, participating departments/units are requested to submit the form titled “Work Time and Payment Record Form” to enable the University to proceed with disbursing compensation to the students.
  • The student’s work supervisor must complete or verify all details in the Work Time and Payment Record Form, sign in all designated sections, and attach the following documents: a copy of the student ID card, a copy of the national ID card, and a copy of the first page of the Kasikorn Bank book bank
  • The head of the department/unit must also sign in the specified section. In the case of a faculty/institute/college/school/academic office, the authorized signatory may be the Vice Dean or Vice Director responsible for the relevant function. For departments under the Office of the university, the authorized signatory may be the Director of the Office or the Director of the Center.
  • Departments/units must submit the Work Time and Payment Record Form, along with the required supporting documents (copy of student ID card, national ID card, and Kasikorn book bank), by the 3rd of each month, for the University to process and disburse compensation to the students. Payment will be made by the 15th of the month, or on the next working day.
  • In cases where the department/unit submits the documents after the 3rd of the month, the payment will be processed in the following month’s cycle.
  • The Work Time and Payment Record Form must be submitted in A4 size only. If the space provided is insufficient for time entries, the student may continue recording work hours on a new sheet.
  • Student work dates must correspond to the implementation period of the High-Potential Student Internship Project, which supports staffing and meaningful contributions to Chulalongkorn University, in alignment with SDG Goal 8 for the applicable fiscal year.
